65 Women in Healthcare AI You Should Follow
Recently, my friend Roxana Daneshjou sent me a photo from a healthcare AI conference. It showed a panel with not a single woman on it. A manel. This is ’t new in healthcare, but it continues to be disappointing.
We got to talking about what’s at stake. Women run healthcare at home. We book the appointments, manage the prescriptions, do the research, and make most of the medical decisions for our kids, our partners, and our parents. We have also spent years being dismissed, misdiagnosed, and gaslit by the healthcare system. And until 1993, US clinical research wasn’t even required to include us.
AI learns from that history. It trains on the records, the trials, and the clinical judgment of a system built around men’s bodies. Left alone, it will do what that system has always done, only faster and at scale. But it doesn’t have to!
I believe AI is our best shot at closing the gaps in women’s health, but only if women’s voices are heard and involved.
So I turned to LinkedIn to ask about the women leading healthcare AI, and got hundreds of names! Cutting it to 60 was nearly impossible, and the full thread is worth scrolling through too.
Below are 65 women in healthcare + AI to follow. They’re building the tools, setting the guardrails, funding the companies, and asking the questions to ensure AI actually improves, not worsens, healthcare for all.
